Think about the one place in the home where you can have some peace and quiet (it definitely wouldn’t be the toilet or shower in my house). It could be a little corner in your bedroom. Maybe it’s your living room. It may even be your attic where you have built a spare room. Many of these options are not always reliable. People come and go from the living room all the time throughout the entire day, the kids have cartoons blaring from the TV. It’s perhaps the most used room for guests and family members alike.

It’s quite possible that you don’t in fact have an attic room so that’s out of the options. Finally, even the bedroom is not somewhere you can fully rely on to be left alone as it’s where people get dressed and perhaps take a bath.
The one true place that you can and should always be able to rely on is of course the garden. Here in the back of the home you can shut the door and be at one with the wildlife around you and nature. But it’s more than this even, it’s a place where you can come to relax and have an area where you can reminisce about old times and let your thoughts flow freely.
We love the contrast
Who doesn’t love being in touch with nature but doing so from modern comforts? Being able to sit and enjoy the fresh air is contrasted by the coldness of the breeze. We can take on this with our own contrast, by simply having a comfortable fabric lounge or deck chair. Add to this a throw and you can lie back covered in warmth and be able to take it easy.
We love these kinds of contrasts because it makes nature accessible. It’s not just somewhere you will be cold, you can in fact be comfortable and have seating that supports you upright but allows you to lie completely flat on your back too. This is why mechanical lounge chairs or decking chairs are fantastic for an outdoor place to sit and relax.
Shielded from the harshness
When we think about sitting outside, we always question is it worth the bother? We quickly open up our weather app on our smartphones and check to see if there will be rain or sunshine. Thankfully there are an abundance of choices for your garden as patios have advanced to pyramid roofs. These will cut through the windy and also shift the rainwater away from the centre.
This allows those that are sitting in the middle to not be in fear of being drenched or hit by a sudden gust. However, you also have the choice of hip roofs or combination roofs to suit your needs. It all depends on your location as certain weather patterns will spring up new challenges. Wood or metal? It depends on the kind of structure you think will last the longest and also be stylish enough to increase the value of your home.
The patio is the one place we can all rely upon to make us feel as if we’re connected with nature and modern comforts. It’s perhaps the only place where you can reliably get some quiet and room to yourself so invest in it.
