You have to admit, one of the most expensive things you can do with your family is take them on a trip abroad. There’s just so many things to pay for, and it’s not as simple as being able to jump on a plane with just you and your partner and soak up the sun or take in the scenery. You have passports, visas, currency exchange, guide books and a very long plane ride.
You have to think about taking all the extra money, buying clothes for multiple people, and just hoping that they have a kid’s activity club just so that you and your partner can have a little bit of peace throughout the day. We took our four to Bali two years ago and the one of the younger kids screamed for 5 hours straight on the plane and when we arrived at our resort, all four kids refused to go to kids club!!. Have I not just made that sound a little bit horrible?.

Of course though you are making the most amazing memories, but who says they have to be done abroad where you’re spending thousands and thousands each time and leaving yourself open to a lot of stress.
I think you should consider taking a little family road trip in the sun, because I promise you they’re just as fun! Here’s how you can go about it, with minimal dramas involved.
The only way that this is going to go down without a hitch at all, is if you prepare yourself for everything. But the first thing you really need to prepare, is your car. It’s going to become your little travel pod, so you have to make it perfect. You could have a look at companies such as Roof Racks DIY, and get a roof rack for the top of your car.
Why you ask? Well, you could either put one big car case on top filled with all your essentials, perfect if you’re going to camp somewhere overnight. Or, you could put some bikes on top so that no matter where you go, the kids always have something fun to do.
After that, it’s just about making sure your car is safe and ready… boring I know, but absolutely essential. Tyre pressure must be right, fuel nice and full, and plenty of water and oil in your car!. Make sure you carry extra water in your car, your phone charger and a couple of litres of oil too.
The destination really does make a road trip, but how about we throw a bit of a spanner in the works. Why not have no destination at all, and just have a bit of a ‘see how it goes’ road trip. Just keep driving and driving until you find something truly beautiful.
These are the best type of road trips because you just don’t know what to expect. When you do find somewhere lovely, just make the most of the place you’re in. Do outdoor activities, set up a camp, and just have some unique family fun.
How To Make It Just As Fun As A Holiday!
To make it just as fun as a holiday, you need to make sure you’re doing something that everyone is going to like (not as easy as it sounds!), especially if you have older children. Ask them for their opinions and see what comes out of it. When everyone is involved, it’s hard to create arguments!.
And most of all, have a wonderful time creating beautiful memories with your family and be sure to take lot of photos 😊
